DC Mutual Aid Network
The DC Mutual Aid Network and Facebook group is a grassroots, community-led effort looking to take care of each other and keep our city as safe… More as possible. To locate current efforts across the city, find help, or find out how to plug in, this spreadsheet is your first stop: bit.ly/
What is mutual aid?
Mutual aid is people working together to meet each other’s material needs (food, housing, healthcare, etc). Mutual aid is different from charity and social services-- instead of replicating the hierarchy and control of non-profits and government programs, mutual aid efforts strive to be transparent, collaborative, and powered by the people. Mutual aid is political. Mutual aid projects recognize current systems as a fundamentally unjust, see the connections between our collective problems and various forms of oppression, and understand that building a more survivable society requires more than symbolic acts or pressuring government representatives

Who is the Moderating Team? Who is the Administrative Team? Who Runs DC Mutual Aid Network?
DCMA is a decentralized, community-led effort, so there is no single group that “runs” the network. In the network, there are ward-level mutual aid groups and other working groups. One of these working groups is the “Admin Team,” and the “Mod Team” is a sub-group of the Admin Team.
The Mod Team responds to concerns in the group and provides help finding information. The Admin Team overall does a wide variety of administrative tasks for the network like: scheduling meetings, taking notes, moderating the Facebook group, and supporting cross-network communication. The Mod and Admin Teams are NOT mediators, and Facebook isn’t the place for conflict resolution. We can, however, connect you with folks trained in conflict resolution.
Although the Mod Team doesn’t “run” DCMA, we're very visible and make decisions about who is in or out of the FB group. It’s important that we acknowledge that means we have a certain level of power. If you have any questions or would like to provide feedback to the Mod Team, please email us at dcmutualaid@gma

I've said it many times, and I will say it again. The work I do is challenging, but it's IMPOSSIBLE without the help of others. I would like to gauge the interest of other drivers in making something like the DC Mutual Aid Cake group so we can coordinate deliveries. Please let me know if you'd be interested in this idea as a driver, a remote coordinator (not driving), and/or another niche you may be able to fill related to delivery!
Please comment here and/or DM me!
There’s been a lot of heavy (necessary) conversation, so I’m wondering if folks would enjoy a post of sweet pictures of our babies and fur babies. I only have cats, so that’s what I’ll kick off the thread with.
Looking forward to seeing what sweet faces make your heart stir! (Human babies welcome, just to be clear!)
I say this with all due respect I'm not sure why my post was removed but I'm grateful for the 2 women who were able to assist with the lyft cards I'm very grateful. Now out of respect for this group I never post personal opinions on how the group is conducted. I have watched the same people post day after day asking for money, food, tvs, rides, etc… More EVERYDAY none of those post are ever removed. I may have asked for help in this group 3 times including the help I asked for today, I dont get on here with sob stories looking to take advantage of others thats not me nor have I ever been like that. It seems to me whoever is in charge of removing post need to focus more on the habitual users instead of… More
Mira Camara is looking for recommendations.
Hi everyone,
I am looking for recommendations for movers to move my furnitures. If you’re a mover or know someone with a mini truck, please comment.
Thanks in advance.
