Info
This group has been set up in order to prevent the repeated closure of large areas of the Chase by Staffordshire County Council.

Access restrictions to the Chase Road Brocton in particular unfairlyMehr discriminate against those with disability and mobility issues and the wider Staffordshire community who are unable to access large areas of Cannock Chase as a result.

This group will also campaign against the large scale deforestation of vast areas of the Chase.

Staffordshire County Councill, which in 2015 was consulting on the sale of large tracts of Cannock Chase, launched a further, poorly publicised consultation into the closure of laybys and free parking details of which can be found here: www.haveyoursaycannockchase.org.uk

We're calling for this consultation to be reopened and better publicised in order for all of those affected including business owners, cyclists, dog walkers, runners and horse riders can have their say. Rather than the council relying on a small number of respondents which included those campaigning to close the Chase and the County Councillors who had proposed it.

Using Coronavirus as an excuse Staffordshire County Council closed off Chase Road Brocton and many other areas of the chase and kept them closed beyond the point at which the Government had lifted restrictions on travelling by car to exercise spots.

Following a recent fire at the Brocton end of the road the County Council has closed off not just this section but the full two miles of the road and are attempting to prevent people from parking at either end particularly the area closest to Hednesford.

We believe this is part of an overall campaign to limit access to the Chase and prevent the free access by people across Staffordshire and will be campaigning against this.
