Is your school burning fossil fuels? Even the Government may not know

Up to 378,000 students could attend a school burning coal, diesel or gas to warm classrooms. But government agencies don't know how many dirty boilers are out there.

💥 The Ministry of Education estimates over 378,000 children attend schools burning fossil fuels.

“Fossil fuels and the fossil fuel industry are the leading cause of emissions that are causing the climateMore crisis, globally. They have no place in our schools,” said Erica Finnie, 350 Aotearoa Executive Director

We want all schools to be free from coal, oil and gas by 2025, to align with the Government's carbon-neutral public-sector goal. This will meaningfully reduce emissions, rather than simply offsetting them.

To reach that goal, we're calling on the Government to commit to funding to transition off fossil fuels 2021 Budget. Add your name here https://350.org.nz/fossil-free-state-sector/#action
