S-CAP Sudbury Coalition Against Poverty
Sudbury Coalition Against Poverty
S-CAP is a direct-action anti-poverty organization based in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. We provide direct-action support work assisting individuals in their struggles with… More welfare and ODSP, housing, employers, and others who deny people what they are entitled to in order to meet their needs. In addition, we mount campaigns against and support educational work about regressive government policies as they affect working people and people living in poverty. We believe in the power of people to organize themselves.
We believe in the power of resistance!
Happy new year, S-CAP supporters!
There is an S-CAP meeting TOMORROW, Monday January 4th, at 6:30pm at the SDLC office (109 Elm St.). We will primarily be evaluating the work we have done around the Raise the Rates campaign, deciding how best to move forward in relation to this campaign, and reviewing on-going direct action support work.
Everyone is welcome!

After a period of inactivity, S-CAP met tonight and decided to focus on the shelter campaign for the next little while.
Even though we were able to establish an emergency shelter for most of the winter for the last two years, there are still serious problems with this service and there is no guarantee it will be offered beyond this winter.
People… More who use the shelters in Sudbury want a space that is open 24 hours a day, all year long. They want a shelter that is open and welcoming to anybody and everybody with no questions asked. And they want a shelter that is independent from religious institutions and organizations.
If you'd like to help us fight to defend and improve our shelter here in Sudbury, then please come out to the next S-CAP meeting:
Sunday October 4th, 2pm
Sudbury District Labour Council office, 109 Elm St. Suite 209
