The official Facebook group for New York City Democratic Socialists, the NYC local of Democratic Socialists of America. NYC-DSA is run by its 3,500+ members and activists who are working together to build a… More democratic socialist organization in the five boroughs.
In order to make this community vibrant and inclusive, we ask that you please follow these GUIDELINES:
1. We’re all comrades here.
We may have disagreements, but we’re unified in our desire for a better, more humane world. We should engage each other with respect, generosity, and a presumption of good faith.
2. We are a diverse organization.
Aim for inclusivity with your posts and comments. Try to avoid language that marginalizes others based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, etc.
3. Resist the urge to get defensive.
If you get called out, first consider that you might be in the wrong. It’s okay; we all make mistakes. Accept the criticism and learn from it.
4. This is a public forum.
Assume that your posts and comments here are visible to everyone, including your boss and law enforcement. Be thoughtful about what you choose to share, particularly when discussing or planning political action.
5. All posts represent the opinions of individual members.
Posts should not be considered the official stances of NYC-DSA. Official information will come from the NYC-DSA Facebook page.
