This is an open discussion group for the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game. This group is intended for all ages, so please refrain from discussions of an adult nature. I shouldn't have to say it, but harassment is not allowed; I do expect a spirited discussion from time to time, but treat each other with respect. In order to keep the "signal toMore noise" ratio high, please don't post memes to this group; there are plenty of other groups about general RPG subjects where such things are welcome, but in the interest of promoting actual discussion, let's not have them here.

Also, any discussions of real-world politics are not welcome here, and if you came here to advertise your product, please,… More

Is it okay to post links here? I am trying to start up a Basic Fantasy game using the mRPG app. If anyone would like to play over text, I'm looking to run a campaign every other Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Central (US and Canada).

For the longest time, I’ve been hoping for my son (9 year old now) to be interested in playing RPGs with me. It’s something I didn’t want to force him into so I’ve waited for the right time when he’s old enough to understand the rules of the game and make logical choices of the many trade offs the game may present.

Finally tonight, he made a BFRPGMore character by rolling 3d6 six times and assign the scores to the abilities as desired. He rolled an 18 and a 14! He was pretty excited about that. I explained to him why having a +3 modifier in Strength or Dexterity is such a big deal.

He assigned 18 to Strength and 14 to Dexterity. He chose to be a human fighter who can use any armour and weapon… More

Dando halfling Cleric
Durgan Dwarf Cleric
Giselbert Halfling fighter
Barry Elf Fighter/magic user

After the battle with the medusasMore the Barrel boys recovered two magic bows and a some intricate jewellery from the bodies. But while searching the room they discovered a circular depression in the back wall, clearly something fitted into it...
A look at the map they had discovered earlier revealed the location of the remaining traps and something marked at the middle of the maze. The way there proved much easier with the map the room in the middle had many different entrances leading out into the maze, but a large… More

Hey BF Buddies! Now that we’ve eased up on restrictions in Australia, my friends are starting to ask me when would we resume our BFRPG campaign. 😀 so glad to know they’re still interested despite a year-longMore hiatus.

So I need help. I have a group of players composed of the following:

Beka – elf fighter 6
Catrionzi – elf fighter 5
Chichi – halfling thief 7
Elrond – elf magic-user 6
Gambit – elf fighter 6
Goldmoon – human cleric 6
Pedro – human fighter 6
Pichi – dwarf cleric 6

So that’s 8 players at an average level of 6. They also have a stone of earth elemental.

What I need help with is this: can any of you recommend BFRPG adventures that I can use to challenge my players?

I tend to create… More

The Blackapple Brugh

Lately, i've started a BFRpg campaign with some members og the Italian Translation Alliance, we're basically live on Twitch every thuesday night and we got a positive feedback.
Aside from being happy to diffuse the OSR here in italy i'm really grateful cause it's been ages since i last GMed, and it's both funny and stress relieving.
Anyway.
In theMore last session we had a real "OSR moment", after exploring a little part of the Olde Island Fortress level one, the decided to PC went back to Morgansfort to regroup after a random encounter with three skeletons.
After a little issue with the guards for the "treasure tax" they spent the night at the fort, going back to the dungeon the next morning.… More
