Why is COVID so dangerous for Sewardites?

The short answer is that patients who need hospitalization may not have a place to go.

Seward is fortunate to have high quality, dedicated healthcare… More professionals in our community, but our resources are limited.

Seward’s emergency plans are to transfer COVID patients that need hospital level care to Anchorage or Soldotna hospitals. Both locations are at or nearing their maximum capacity, and they may not have space for patients from Seward. The Seward hospital has two rooms setup for COVID, it would be at full capacity with only two patients. We have a plan to use the AVTEC gym as an overflow location, but we do not have enough local… More
