About Emily
Emily Cavanagh is an independent artist. Her 3 EPs to date (blending Americana, folk, jazz, and indie pop sounds) reflect the throwback sounds of the 40s,50s while maintaining a great pop sensibility. Her first full length record "Keep it with Mine," released in 2013, produced by grammy nominated Leo Sidran generated a great deal of work as a performer in New York venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, The Blue Note, City Winery, Hiro Ballroom. It also landed her features in American Songwriter, The Guardian, USA Today, Little Things, and AXS. Since then, she has grown her audience, and in turn, grown a tour with shows outside of her home base---playing regularly in Chicago(Schubas), Dublin(Whelan's), Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, Los Angeles, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and in London and Ireland both, touring with multi-platinum singer-songwriters, Dublin's beloved Paddy Casey and Mundy. Her EP "Paper Moon" released in 2017, chronicles her travels abroad, plays on Irish radio, and features the single "Coming Home" which AXS did a beautiful feature story on last year. On the heels of this success, she released a live covers album, "Bootlegs from the Continental"---songs she’s performed live throughout the years.

In addition to working as a performer, Emily is a published songwriter. The instrumental of her song "Treehouse" was featured in the 2017 trailer for Woody Harrelson & Fox Searchlight's film, "Wilson." This placement led to other opportunities for co-writes and writing for bands in Nashville and New York-she is currently a lyricist for the band Neeksens based in Paris.

In addition to music, Emily runs her own LLC, combining her work as a musician and activist ---bringing music into the shelter system for homeless, refugee, and immigrant communities across NYC. With a background in social work/psychology from NYU, and an undergraduate degree in Music from Webster University, she works both as a musician and freelancer for arts-non-profits bringing music to underserved communities. She has performed often at The United Nations, where her original song "Dark was the Night" has played in honor of Genocide Survivors. Her music is available on all major music platforms.
