Major does not lie.
The Framers of the federal Constitution were some of the smartest men of their day, and they advised against the writing of laws that were so wordy and confusing that almost no one could understand them.
"It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood;" ~ James Madison (Federalist #62)
The fact that Congress has not followed the Framer’s advice is a very large part of why we now suffer from a system of government that is National, and not federal. It is why We the People are now forced to endure an elite ruling class of government officials who see themselves as smarter than the rest of us, and who generally believe We the People are just too stupid to understand the complexities of government.
Of course, the result of all this nonsense is that people are now fully conditioned to think that the Constitution is so confusing, and the laws written are so far above their heads, that they really need a political class of “smart people” to tell them what all of this means.
It’s time to simplify the system. It’s time to divest this unconstitutional national government of powers not delegated. It is time to let common sense rule the day and to stop the growth of a ruling class. It’s time for We the People to reassert ownership of this leviathan.
