Wouldn't it be interesting if this Congress passed an Act reducing the number of justices on the supreme Court to just one, and removed the justices of their choosing?

And wouldn't it be even more interesting if, after reducing the supreme Court to a single justice, they passed another Act increasing the number of justices, which would starting the nominations and confirmations process for the newly created seats?

Don't laugh; the Congress has manipulated the number of supreme Court justices numerous times.

1789 - originally set at 6
1807 - increased to 7
1837 - increased to 9
1863 - increased to 10
1866 - reduced to 7
1869 - increased to 9 where it remains

Of course, I could care less how many elite rulers in robes there are. I'd much rather the members of Congress simply use their Article III authority to legislate the supreme Court away from the plethora of cases for which it has no constitutional authority to be involved, but that's just crazy talk, right?
