I have seen a number of people saying they want to stop the use of executive orders all together. It is my belief that executive orders are not the problem, and it's not exactly the President we should be concerned about.
Executive orders have been used since Washington. They allow a President to give written instructions as to how the will of the people, meaning the laws passed by Congress, are to be executed. Simply put, executive orders are necessary to the office.
But if executive orders are used illegally, the people should be actively working to remove from both chambers of Congress those who are unwilling to use their constitutional authority to stop misapplications of executive orders and to reprimand a President.
Once a President is in office the only recourse “We the People” have against him for bad behavior is through the Congress. As I see it, responsibility for continued abuses of executive orders lies with the members of the House and Senate.
