In the Soviet Union, the Bolsheviks prevailed and maintained power by brute force. People were obedient to Lenin's regime because the alternative was getting pulled out of bed in the middle of the night and shot in the head. The communists failed because they obtained power before revolutionizing the culture. People were more loyal to their country, culture, family, and Christianity than they were to worker solidarity. To prevail in the West, Marxists needed to undermine the bedrock of western civilization. They needed to sow the seeds of cultural revolution through public schools, art, and media. By destroying the old culture, the serfs would gladly become Marxists and welcome obedience to them.
