CURRENT ist ein transdisziplinäres Festival für Kunst im urbanen Raum. Die erste Ausgabe fand vom 9.–19. September 2021 in Stuttgart statt. Installationen, Performances, Diskussionen und Workshops verhandeln die Verbindung von Kunst mit Architektur und Stadt.
Die erste Ausgabe ist dem Porösen (in) der Stadt gewidmet. Innerhalb des Festivals benennen Künstler:innen Lücken in der Planung sowie Lücken im kollektiven Bewusstsein, sprechen sich für einen produktiven Umgang mit Krisen und Unvorhersehbarkeiten aus und erkennen Improvisation als Potenzial von Gestaltung an. Installationen, Performances, Diskussionen und Workshops verhandeln die Verbindung von Kunst mit Architektur und Stadt. Die Künstler:innen gehen in unterschiedlichen Formaten auf spezifische Situationen im Stadtraum ein, direkt oder indirekt: auf Möglichkeiten, Materialitäten, Ko-Existenzen, Versprechen und Behauptungen sowie neue Formen von Wahrnehmung im Urbanen.
Das Festival setzt sich aus der Ausstellung vom 9.–19. September 2021 in Stuttgart, lokalen Kooperationen, einem begleitenden Magazin sowie aus andockenden Diskursformaten mit einem Symposium am 16. und 17. September im Kunstverein Wagenhalle zusammen.

CURRENT is a transdisciplinary festival for art in urban space. The first edition took place from 9—19 September 2021 in Stuttgart. Installations, performances, discussions and workshops set out to explore the connection between art, architecture and the city.
The first edition is dedicated to Porosity in – and of the City. Within the festival, the artists name gaps in city planning as well as gaps in the collective consciousness, advocate productive approaches to crises and unpredictability and recognize improvisation as a potential for design. Installations, performances, discussions and workshops negotiate the connections of art, with architecture and the city. The artists will engage with specific situations in the urban sphere through different formats, directly or indirectly: as possibilities, materials, co-existences, promises and assertions, forms of surveillance, as well as new forms of perception in the urban sphere.
The festival is composed of the exhibition from 9-19 September 2021 in Stuttgart, local cooperations, an accompanying magazine, and discourse formats with a symposium on September 16 and 17 at Kunstverein Wagenhalle.
