“This afternoon, a ceasefire proposed by the Egyptian government was agreed to between Israel and Hamas with the support of the United States and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The deal ends a week of fighting that has killed over 140 Palestinians and 5 Israelis. This agreement will allow for a broader calm to return to both Israel and the Gaza Strip. I have always been and will continue to be committed to Israel's security and I strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself and its people."
