Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer and Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment, Hilson Baptiste, recently visited Great Bird Island with the EAG. Issues related to Antigua & Barbuda's potential for birding tourism, management of the marine protected area (NEMMA), the draft Environment Protection and Management Bill and other matters were discussed. This was the government ministers' first up-close encounter with our endemic, critically endangered Antiguan Racer snake.
The visit was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland through an avi-tourism project and by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund.
