About Arne
Arne Birkenstock studied political science, economics, history and spanish in Cologne, Buenos Aires and Córdoba. Birkenstock directed and produced numerous successful cinema documentaries like „12 Tangos – Adios Buenos Aires“, „Chandani – the daughter of the elephant whisperer“ (German Film Academy Award LOLA for best childens feature 2011), „Sound of Heimat – Germany sings“ and „Beltracchi – the art of forgery“ (German Film Academy Award LOLA for best documentary 2014). With his company Fruitmarket he produces films from Directors like Milo Rau, Uli Gaulke, Enrique Sánchez Lansch, Yasemin and Nesrin Samdereli. He wrote several non-fiction books on music and film and is a member of several award- and filmfunding jurys in Germany and Switzerland.
