Frank Ordaz - while matte painting ET and Indiana Jones at ILM back in the day, oil painted this in his spare time!
Back when I was working at Lucasfilm, I had the energy after working a full day and then on weekends to paint a 48x48 painting of the Grand Canyon in oils. I was matte paintings for films like ET and Indiana Jones . You get to be pretty good when you paint every day.
