Very sad news today of the passing of James Fenton, poet and author, one of the great champions of the Ulster-Scots language. Our condolences to all of his family and friends. "If there's another world, he lives in bliss: if there is none he made the best of this." Please share.

We are very sad to announce that JAMES FENTON, President of the Ulster-Scots Language Society and the Ulster-Scots Academy, died last night (2 February 2021) just weeks before his 90th birthday.
He is best-known as the author of "THE HAMELY TONGUE: A Personal Record of Ulster-Scots in County Antrim" and his outstanding poetry in Ulster-Scots, published in two collections: "Thonner an Thon", and "On Slaimish".
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy is not a thing of the past, but is a living and homely record of a language that continues to bear fruit.
Our deepest condolances to his wife Pam, his son Roger and grand-daughter Katie Fenton.
