הכירו את מת׳יו ולורהבל. הם אמנם נראים כמו זוג מהאגדות, אבל הם זוג אמיתי שהכיר בשגרירות ארה״ב פה בישראל! ב-2016 שירת מת׳יו ביחידת המארינס של שלוחת השגרירות בת״א, ולורהבל הירושלמית בדיוק עברה לתל אביב לעבוד במחלקת הדיפלומטיה הציבורית של השגרירות. למרות שעבדו באותו בניין הם נפגשו בכלל במקרה בטיול בצפון הארץ, ומאז הם בלתי נפרדים. ב-2017 מתיו עבר לשרת בבסיס המארינס ביוון והשניים נאלצו לשמור על הקשר מרחוק, אך לא עבר זמן רב עד שמת׳יו הבין שהוא חייב את לורבל לצדו. במרץ 2018 הוא קנה טבעת, עלה על מטוס, לקח את לורהבל לקמפינג במדבר יהודה, וכרע ברך. בספטמבר אותה שנה הם התחתנו לעת שקיעה על המזח של יפו. אחרי החתונה מת׳יו לקח מאיתנו את לורהבל, אבל היינו חייבים לסלוח לו... מכירים בן אדם שיסרב ללרילוקיישן להוואי?! בימים אלה משרת מת׳יו בבסיס המארינס בהוואי, ולורהבל מסיימת את התואר השני שלה בלימודי דיפלומטיה וביטחון באוניברסיטת הוואי. השניים חיים באושר בהונולולו עם החתולה צ׳קרס וממשיכים לטייל ולצבור חוויות. צוות השגרירות מאחל ט״ו באב שמח למת׳יו ולורהבל ולכל העוקבים שלנו ❤️ Meet Matthew and Laurabell. They may look like a couple out of a fairytale, but they are indeed a real embassy couple! They met in 2016 when Matthew served as a Marine guard at the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv, and Laurabell, an original Jerusalemite, moved to Tel Aviv to start working for the Embassy Public Diplomacy section. Their meet-cute happened during an embassy group hike in Israel’s northern region, and the rest was history! When Matthew was transferred to a Marine Corps base in Greece in 2017, the couple spent a year apart and the distance definitely made the heart grow fonder! In 2018 Matthew flew back to Israel to propose to Laurabell while on a camping trip in the Judaean desert. In September of that year, the couple tied the knot overlooking the sunset at Jaffa's Port. The couple continues to share their love for hiking, but now in Honolulu! Matthew serves as a Ssgt in the Marine Corps base in Hawaii and Laurabell is studying for her M.A. in Diplomacy and Military Studies at the Hawaii Pacific University. Happy Tu B’Av! ❤️
