Think you're ready for this weekend's Big Game? Think again. Frank Woods from Black Ops 2 weighs in with his Top 10 #GameDayTips:
WOODS: "I remember when there were two different leagues, which paired up for the first world championship game in 1967. At that time, games were more physical and in-your-face, which is how we liked it. They looked more like organized brawls that happened to involve an actual football — you kids don't now how nice you have it — but I digress. The Big Game is this Sunday and you're going to need a survival guide. Lucky for you, you came to the right place.
1. Home Field Advantage: You don't want it. I know, I know — you normally want to fight on your home turf; however, this is a different kind of war. Your Fortress of Solitude is probably hard enough to get clean — you don't need someone else trashing your place. When people get excited, things spill — make sure they spill at someone else's house, because you want to be able to walk away from the carnage once it's over.
2. Arrive Early: This frees up time for any pre-game rituals; however, the objective here is to assert early dominance over the remote control. This is critical to executing your strategy for halftime. Also, hide the game controller — this will be key later.
3. Pre-Game: By "pre-game," I mean "put a Call of Duty disc in the console, turn it on and let it warm up." Again, this is critical to our halftime strategy.
4. Win Hearts and Minds: By this point, you've asserted your dominance over the field of battle, procured management of the remote control and pre-gamed the console — now, grab some nachos and make nice with the other guests. It's no different than any other kind of special forces operation — eventually, you're going to need to rely on the locals to help you get the job done. Win them over and win them over early — if they're not with you, they're against you. Remember that.
5. Halftime Etiquette: Halftime shows can be good, but you don't want "good," you want "great," which is why you are going to angle in on a Call of Duty game instead. By now, you're friends with the locals, you've got the TV controller and (surprise!) you just pulled the game controller out of the sofa cushion. Politely recommending to the group that it might be a good time for some Call of Duty should go over well. What's that? The game is queued up? Well, go figure. It's hard to say no when you're already at the multiplayer menu.
6. Politely Discourage Dissent: Someone will want to watch Bruno Mars. And you know what? That's fine — if you're into that kind of stuff. Make sure to have the wi-fi password at-the-ready so you can tell them to stream it through their mobile device. You're polite, helpful, but still in control of the entertainment situation.
7. Throw a Social Grenade: A wi-fi password might not be enough to throw off the hounds. If there are any other dissenters in the group, yell out, "Those were some great commercials! What were your favorites?" The question will be chum in the social water and get people talking while you start to get your game on. Call in a "Did anyone see any good Tweets?" strike for reinforcements.
8. Did someone say "menu?" Send one of your field agents to get more food — the game has been going on a while and it's important that you go into battle with proper sustenance.
9. Keep an Eye on the Clock: You want to get your game on, you don't want to become the most hated man at the party. Halftime shows usually last 30 minutes, so wrap up in that time — you might even want to save a few extra minutes for a bio break. At my age, it's hard to hold it in.
10. Don't Drink and Drive: If you need me to explain this to you, then you're an idiot and it would probably be better for everyone if you just stayed at home this weekend.
