Today, we catch up with Senior Sound Designer, Kevin Sherwood for our #GameChanger series. A member of Treyarch's audio department, Sherwood is also the composer/musician responsible for serving up much of the Zombies soundtrack work. Even if you don't know Kevin Sherwood, you've certainly heard his work.

"When the NES first came out, everyone in my neighborhood was instantly addicted to Super Mario Bros. Every day after school we did nothing but play that game, but it was a game that came out not too long after that would change everything for me. That game was Dragon Warrior -- or Dragon Quest if you want to be a dork about it. It was the first real RPG that I had ever played. Back then the only way to unlock secrets was to actually stumble on them or figure them out. There weren't any YouTube play-throughs or spoilers, so the mystique and discovery factor were a large part of the allure.

I would come home from school and do several hours of experience-grinding before setting off to a new area. Nary a treasure chest remained locked. I had a huge fold-out poster from Nintendo Power of all the weapons in the game on my wall. I remember the artist's concept of the flame sword being particularly bad ass.

Of course I couldn't go without mentioning the music. I'll be honest with you, I love the music. I do. I'm a Dragon Warrior music fan. For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when it plays the "Overworld theme ". I can still hear it. In a decade or so, when I've finally lost my mind and they have me committed, I will be tapping that melody out with a spork on the radiator of my padded cell.... metal slime."
