The latest installment in our #GameChanger series catches up with our very own Gavin Locke (Lead Game Designer) to learn a little more about the game that changed his life…

"The game that changed my life was Legends of Kesmai. For anyone that’s unfamiliar with the game it was one of the first online MP RPGs with sweet 2D sprites. I have many fond memories of dialing-up to AOL to play it with both my father and older brother. More importantly, having grown up in a small mountain town without an arcade, or reliable power in the winter, this was my first experience playing a game with someone who wasn’t sitting in my living room with me. I was fourteen when I joined my first gaming guild, the Clan of the Wulf – with my father’s permission, of course. In the thousands of hours spent in that magical land, I was able to forge friendships that survived the game’s shutdown in 2000. At that sad time these new friends and I all migrated to EQ, its many expansions, then WoW, EQ2 and numerous other games. The idea that I’ve been playing games with some of these folks online for the last sixteen years is just crazy! LoK didn’t just expand my gaming horizons, it shattered them."
