Just months before he announced his DACA policy, President Obama publicly conceded that he could not legally do so. Then he did it anyway. Today, President Trump announced that he was rescinding it. Here is President Obama's statement in response:
"Ultimately, this is about basic decency. This is about whether we are a people who kick hopeful young strivers out of America, or whether we treat them the way we'd want our own kids to be treated. It's about who we are as a people – and who we want to be."
So there you have it: Trump should scoff at his constitutional oath to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, just as Obama did. A people under arbitrary government is "who we want to be."
