JUST IN: The tech behind #TraceTogether - the contact tracing app by GovTech (Government Technology Agency of Singapore) and Ministry of Health, Singapore - is now open-sourced. This means that the international community can download its source code, develop and adapt it to their contact tracing needs. More at 👉: https://go.gov.sg/six-things-about-opentrace
#Didyouknow? TraceTogether has crossed one million users within two weeks of its launch! Be part of the TraceTogether community to help stop the spread of #COVID19 through contact tracing. Download now on the App Store and Google Play, and share the word with your family and friends today!
I’m happy to announce TraceTogether is now open-sourced. This is thanks to the efforts of the Singapore GovTech team, who have worked over the last two weeks to achieve this.
You can find out more about this source code at https://go.gov.sg/six-things-about-opentrace. The BlueTrace protocol – on which TraceTogether is built – is designed to be interoperable, and the international community can develop and adapt it to their contact tracing needs.
We hope to work with other countries and public health organisations to enhance the codebase and BlueTrace protocol. It is important that we stand together as one in the global fight against this COVID-19 pandemic.
I would also like to encourage more of you to download and use the app so that we can be safer together.
From 1 Feb, you will be able to collect your #TraceTogether Token at any CC around Singapore! Yes, we will be setting up collection points at 108 CCs, and you can visit any one of them at your convenience.
You can also visit any CC to get your Token replaced if the battery has run out or if the Token is faulty. When this happens, you will see a blinking red light, or the light has stopped blinking. If you see a green light that is blinking about once every minute, this means your Token is working well.

Our ability to contact trace quickly is extremely important in our fight against COVID-19. As shared by Associate Professor Vernon Lee, head of MOH’s contact tracing centre, “Every minute more we spend on contact tracing means a minute more for the virus to transmit.”
Also in this article, contact tracers Narasimhan Rao and Lin Zhaoquan talk about the nuts and bolts of contact tracing and how #SafeEntry and #Tracetogether help make a difference in their work.
Ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes at MOH’s contact tracing centres? In this CNA article, contact tracers Narasimhan Rao and Lin Zhaoquan tell us about the challenges they face, the motivation and fulfiment they find in their work, and the daily race to identify close contacts of COVID-19 patients. They also share on how digital tools like #SafeEntry and #TraceTogether have helped them in their work.
In one case, a patient was sure that he was not working on certain days as he was on leave. Through SafeEntry and TraceTogether data, officers were able to confirm otherwise. “Luckily, we now have that data so we can verify through that,” shared Zhaoquan.

Let’s not forget to help our contact tracers by actively using our TraceTogether devices (App/Token) and performing SafeEntry check-ins!
