The world seems to be spinning out of control all over the planet. Reason seems to have taken a back seat to xenophobia, extremism and fanatical thinking and action. Killings of unarmed black males in the U.S., targeted assassinations of police in response, an illegal overhaul of a whole part of society in Turkey supposedly in response to the coup attempt, heavy handed police roundups by police in Armenia of civic leaders in response to an armed police station takeover, civilian killings in France, Belgium, Germany and elsewhere by so called Isis sympathizers- as the list goes on and on. I guess environmental catastrophic warnings are not enough to temper our animalistic idiocracy. One thing is clear-civilization in its current form has run its course. We desperately need to figure out how to handle the human disease of violence toward one another. In the U.S. we need to see a culture of change from violent unilateral action to serving justice starting with police incriminations of those responsible for heinous crimes. In Turkey we need to assert the voices for progressive change against the dogmatic perversions of Erdogan's regime and in Armenia we need to figure out a way out of the post Soviet corrupt hierarchy that has ruled/ruined the country since its independence. Culture, empathy, and equality driven by the majority will always win especially in a climate of economic egalitarianism. Another dark day in history can be subverted by intellect, temperance and justice.

Is there peace in the animal kingdom? As long as there is limited space and resources I am very sceptical of these lofty notions. Laudable, but supremely unrealistic. Violence, or war if you like, is merely an extension of politics; politics, the will of the people. For meaningful change war can't be profitable, and our value system would need to be addressed. I don't see either happening except through a bloody global conflict. I am a pessimistic sceptic mind you.

I agree with the sentiment that we need to chang how people interact, but violence and destruction are not new to the human animal. We've been subjugating and slaughtering each other since the beginning. The difference is now there are significantly more people so conflict is naturally more prevalent. Also, now with social media we see the violence that for so long went ignored or unknown by those it didn't affect directly.

Serj, thank you for the music through the years! I can only speak as an American can, through the blinders that we have had held over our eyes in this country. This country, in my opinion is so hypocritical on so many levels it is disturbing. As individuals we seen to have intelligence, but no scope. We see injustice, and some speak out intelligently about it, but there is no transparency, and no sense of justice anymore. Things that had pure founding a become clouded by greed and list for power and 5 seconds of fame. Americans as a whole claim to be accepting and open minded, but current events prove so many of us have a horde mentality of divisiveness that perverts the purest of thoughts and intentions into pure evil. I fear for my children and the country they will inherit, I am terrified that my children of mixed race have to live with any hint of discrimination and fear for their safety. We live in a society that grossly rewards personal inadequacy and sensationalism as opposed to individual achievement and true unification. Black lives matter, westboro baptist church to name two that spring to mind. Looking out for our fellow human beings is preached but is then met by being ostracized.

- Besides that, this new prison facility he was transported in, is over-crouded and dangerous to live in if for a person with poor health such as this hungerstriker, who is old and had a bad health condition (due to previous hungerstrikes he had when the state refused give him the time off he had the legal right to have, since he earned it by complying with the prison rules and his time spent in).
- This prisoner has also turned into a writer, and book translator of many books during his time in prison and was now put in a cell with two more prisoners, making it extremely difficult for him to continue his work.
He is on hunger strike for almost 50 days and on thirst strike the last 3 days. He is in critical condition and is likely to die soon, even if the state decides to do the right thing and respect the law.
Please share to raise global awareness before it is too late to save his life.

Last year’s challenges proved the importance of HyeConnect as an online environment for all Armenians to communicate and collaborate. The goal HyeConnect founders announced in October 2019 - “to mobilize the power of all Armenians for the sake of the state of Armenia” today is the main imperative.
