Every day we answer numerous 911 calls. Often times, these calls are from individuals who are in need of immediate assistance. Sometimes, it's a simple misdial. Then there's Robert's 9-1-1 call. Robert is a six year old resident of Quincy....
What is sad about this is that this child's concerns were not validated by the 911 dispatch. Why did this young boy, with no malice in his heart, call 911 secretly to report the incident? No one has asked him (that we heard anyway) if there was a "close call" incident that caused him to feel unsafe. Was there a pedestrian that was almost hit? Was there a near collision during the right turn on red? Why did he feel like he had to lie to his Dad about "someone called" rather than tell him outright that he called 911.
It may be nothing that specifically happened during the red light running but I believe there is a follow up in order for this boy, by the police department, so he knows that he made the right choice in speaking out when he felt unsafe in the vehicle with his Dad. Children, in our nation, are dying at the hands of their parents choosing reckless behavior every single day. The Dad gets his pass for now but this young advocate for the safety of his family needs to feel validated for caring enough to make that phone call and risk being "in trouble" from an unappreciative parent or community. He is a HERO in every road tragedy prevention advocate's heart.
Candace Lightner, the founder of MADD and the founder of We Save Lives (advocacy against drunk, drugged, and distracted driving) just released "The Courage To Intervene Promise" safety campaign empowering occupants to speak out against deadly driver behavior.
I, Judi Piburn, am the founder and my Husband, Mark, is the co-founder of P.A.R.T. (People Against Road Tragedy). With almost 40,000 people (enough people to fill a sport stadium) being killed every year in road tragedies, and the largest percentage being preventable deaths according to the Centers For Disease Control, we need to listen to voices like this little 6 year old.

A very kind gentleman dropped these off at the front desk of the Quincy Police Department last night. Sadly, we did not catch his name. If you are the individual, could you please reach out to Officer Dan Parisi at dparisi@quincyma.gov. Thank you!
I hope you can find out who made them.
UPDATE: Det. Pepdjonovic returned Bruno to his family today!

Help Bring Bruno Home
Bruno, a 1-year-old male French bulldog, ran from his home near Quincy Ave last night, June 10th, at approx. 7:30pm. It is believed he made it over to the Kham Man Shopping Center. Witnesses report that a black female in her 40's picked up the dog, entered the Dollar Tree Store, and purchased a collar. Bruno is gray in color and weighs approx. 20lbs.
At this time, detectives are investigating this incident as a theft. As you can imagine, Bruno's family is devastated. Detectives are searching for any video surveillance in the area and have spoken to management at Dollar Tree. If you have any information that may assist in this investigation, you are asked to contact Det. Pepdjonovic at 617.745.5774 or tpepdjonovic@quincyma.gov.
