OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF YORK UNIVERSITY Mamdouh Shoukri, cc MINISTER OF ADVANCED EDUCATION Deb Matthews, MINISTER OF EDUCATION Mitzie Hunter
Dear Mr. Shoukri,
It has come to our attention that the Islam Awareness Week at York University , launched by the Muslim Student Association, is distributing some very controversial material that is not in line with our free, democratic society.
This material includes 'The Quran', a book that gave us great concern in it's distribution at Dundas Square, Toronto, so much so that we wrote an open letter to the Mayor of Toronto asking for a ban on the distribution of this book. This book not only speaks of the oppression of women, but also of committing violence against those who oppose Islamic state. Following is an example of what can be found in 'The Quran':
Surah (chapter) Al-Maidah
Verse 33
Indeed, the penalty 262 for those who wage war 263 against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
Footnote 262
Legal retribution.
Footnote 263
i.e., commit acts of violence and terrorism against individuals or treason and aggression against the Islamic state.
Verse 60
Say, “Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that 271 as penalty from Allah? [It is that of] those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He became angry and made of them apes and pigs and slaves of Taghut. 272 Those are worse in position and further astray from the sound way.”
Footnote 271
Referring to the punishment the People of the Scripture (in their censure of the Muslims) claimed was deserved by them.

'The Quran' is just one piece of literature that is being given out by students with the Muslim Students Association.
In 2015, the book “Women in Islam & Refutation of some Common Misconceptions,” authored by the Saudi scholar Dr. Abdul-Rahman al-Sheha was distributed during Islam Awareness Week.
Following is a quote from this book:
" Although beating of women is generally forbidden, Islam permits the beating of wives in a restricted and limited sense only as a final solution and acceptable valid reason when all else fails. This is analogous to spanking children when all else fails and they must learn a lesson in obedience for their own protection and success."

We and many Canadians feel that such literature should not be given out on the campus of a public University in Canada.
We hope that you will look into this to stop the distribution of such material at York University.
Thank you for your attention.
Respectfully,
Pegida Canada
“I thought Germany was a free country where you can live your faith freely,”
That only applies to some. It seems to be the common theme throughout many Western countries these days.
A Pakistani Christian girl who was kidnapped and forced to marry her Muslim abductor has, in a welcome move by authorities, been reunited with her family after nearly six months.
Recent Boko Haram massacre in Borno State exemplifies years of repression and abuse of older people by the armed group
Older people are frequently killed in military raids and die disproportionately in unlawful military detention
Humanitarian response treats older people as ‘an afterthought’
This is a very post Christian mindset as well. The elderly are dispensable, bothersome, inconvenient.
