#15 People of the Peace Palace ‘This place is so serene, it really embodies the mission of peace through law’ Professor Jayati Srivastava visited the Peace Palace for the research on imagery of justice. She is professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi at the International Studies faculty. ‘I just got back from Brussels, now I’m in The Hague to visit some judicial institutions, and in two days I will be flying to Stockholm to give a seminar. Something that is striking to see in imagery of justice, is that women are solely represented as ‘peace’ or ‘justice’, but in a very passive form. Even though I saw many images of the Peace Palace on the internet, in real life it is very different. I did not expect the pond to be that large, and the whole atmosphere surrounding the palace is very serene. A very special place.’ #peopleofthepeacepalace
