Today is World Food Day. A world in which every person has enough to eat, is a more peaceful world. Armed conflict and political instability force millions of people in the world to flee, looking for safety. The majority of the refugees flees within their own country or to a neighboring country, which is often a development country where food is already scarce. This leads to hunger, new tensions and further instability. Conflict leads to food deficiency, and food deficiency leads to conflict. That is why the peaceful resolution and prevention of conflict through international law and mediation in the Peace Palace, contributes to the prevention of food deficiency. #WFD2017
