Three Mile Fire update | The Three Mile fire burning to the North East of Wisemans Ferry is approximately 170 hectares in size and remains out of control.

A short burst of rain hit the area this afternoon and while it helped to slow the fires progress, it did not extinguish it. Firefighters on the ground have been supported by the RFS Large and Very Large Air Tankers, along with numerous other water bombing aircraft.

A South Westerly wind change is forecast to affect the area this evening. People in the area of Kulnura, Mangrove Mountain and Wyong generally may experience an increase in smoke when the wind change takes affect. Please only call triple zero '000' if you see a fire without a fire truck in attendance or if you are threatened by fire.

New Icons For Bush Fires
Summary
As part of a new Australian Warning System, the way we display incidents on our website and app has changed.
The icons shown on on Fires Near Me and our website have changed as part of a national initiative to have all states and territories displaying incidents in the same way.
Advice
A fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.
Watch and Act
There is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action now to protect you and your family.
Emergency Warning
An Emergency Warning is the highest level of Bush Fire Alert. You may be in danger and need to take action immediately. Any delay now puts your life at risk.
When these incidents are shown, there may be detailed information about what to do to protect you and your family.
Over time, more types of incidents in more places around the country, will use the new system.
What is the Australian Warning System?
The Australian Warning System is a new national approach to information and warnings during emergencies and natural disasters like bush fire, flood, storm, extreme heat and severe weather.
The System uses a nationally consistent set of icons, like those above, to show incidents on website and apps.
The System has been designed based on feedback and research across the country, and aims to deliver a more consistent approach to these types of emergencies, no matter where you are.
Australia’s fire and emergency services aim to provide you with timely and relevant information during emergencies.
Remember – don’t wait for a warning. Take action quickly and don’t delay.
