“An educational journey from seed to business”
MyFarm is exactly that! Our beautiful one-hectare farm is a creative hub where people of all ages learn, train, and share knowledge in and amongst the mixed fruit orchard.
MyFarm showcases sustainable technologies by using them practically and shares this knowledge to all who want to learn. Why? We believe in the sharing of knowledge and skills, especially if it will help towards a more sustainable future.
Innovative learning techniques are tested, trialed, and improved at MyFarm to get them ready to be shipped across the world. Leap Learning (our lead partner) uses specialised Learning Labs that are designed for children (and all ages) to learn to learn. Each Learning Lab uses unique apps and hands on games at different stations around the room, this ensures the children can use at their own level and pace. Learn more here: www,leaplearning.com
MyFarm aims to showcase a holistic approach to learning by showcasing how things relate to each other. Training programs specially designed by our team is how we share out our knowledge and skills, learn more here!

All students are welcome at MyFarm. Children from the local area and beyond can come and use all our facilities…for free…we share everything!
Drop in students from the surrounding area focus on basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills in the Learning Labs with access to tablets pre-installed with over 500 educational apps designed for them to learn, at their level, and at their pace. The labs give children the chance to learn through exploring and by playing, with access to different learning games at each station within a lab. Learning labs have been proven to be so effective that some children can learn to read and write in weeks!
The students have access to much more than labs…We are a creative hub after all.
We use MyFarm to teach the children environmental education, science and nature, spark their creativity, and inspire green practices through specially designed activities that let these children learn by doing! Our team run practical on everything from transplanting seedlings, to making homemade organic soaps with ingredients collected on the farm itself.
We also have a Computer/IT- Lab where we offer programs to fit all levels and provide them with IT-training to prepare them for the new computerised Gambia. We have a special focus on girls classes here to empower the young generation of women,- with programs as Scratch, Minecraft – creative module, Micro-bit and the Windows package.
Drop in School Visits are welcomed with a fantastic tour around the farm. Special interests-tours are welcomed and we have designed short programs for visitors to maximimse the learning and inspiration when they are around.
In school holidays we offer the children in the local area the opportunity to come and join in our special programs! We hold fantastic Summer, Christmas, and Easter programs to all children who want to join. And anyone can join in the fun at MyFarm
MyFarm On Wheels
We want our learning to go beyond MyFarm…So we created MyFarm On Wheels. A Truck fitted with all we need to run a mini MyFarm anywhere in The Gambia!
On the truck we have built in tablets, pre-installed with hundreds of fun educational apps, just like at the farm. It is fitted with 6 built in tablets in a station in the carriage of the truck, the children love it!
Tables and chairs safely slot in and there’s enough space for loads of fun and educational games too, including Lego. We even have space on the top and at the back for loads more materials for specialised activities.
We take “The Wheels” to schools and communities around the country and facilitate our curriculum to the children.
“The Wheels” is the perfect vehicle for our MyFarm trainings too. Read more about them right here
MyFarm on Wheels has so much potential! Soon we will be off out into communities much more often, facilitating both our curriculum and the new community outreach program.
Training Programs
“An educational journey from seed to business”
We specialize in facilitating training that gives participants the skills, knowledge and confidence to become a success in the real world!
We run a variety of training programs and are expanding our capabilities all the time.
Skills and knowledge that we use at MyFarm nearly every day are taught to trainees, and are cleverly linked to our “How To Make Money” newspaper guide and business training videos. Using these and our ever-expanding portfolio of training apps, videos, and guides, our training is a comprehensive program that gives trainees the powerful opportunity to also self-learn and reinforce their knowledge throughout.
Micro-gardening and Entrepreneurial Training
This training program gives participants the skills to make own micro-gardens, in their own compounds. Not only that but we also give them the knowledge to use those skills to make money, and improve their livelihoods… how cool is that.
Over 3 intensive weeks the trainees undertake rigorous skills training and real-world business skills in what we believe is the most robust training of its kind!
The first week focuses solely on the skills and importance of micro-gardening, it succeeds in not only showing the trainees valuable skills, but also shows them that micro-gardens are cheap and extremely effective at producing crops! That’s not even mentioning the beneficial effects of reusing what they already have to make these micro gardens.
The second week reinforces the micro-gardening skills and starts to relate everything to business and how to make money. The trainees are put through their paces here and have an intense week of skills and business training. This week the trainees even go out into the real world and sell products to real life customers. This week they are introduced to marketing, controlling finances, using technology, using people in business, cash flow, and of course selling!
The third and final week is normally a story of development taking place before our eyes. The trainees just click! All the skills and trainings are reinforced and we provide them flexible training options to further develop their skills. In a recent final week of training at Jiroff, the trainees were even given the opportunity to train the local community on the skills they learned. This is is such a powerful practical tool that encourages development for the foreseeable future.
Soap production at Mile2
Everyone deserves a second chance! And that is exactly what out soap production training at Mile2 (prison in The Gambia) is all about. Providing inmates, the opportunity to wash away old habits and reintroduce themselves back into society with the skills and confidence to start their own soap making businesses!
The 2 week course blends soap making with our entrepreneurship training and follows our “How To Make Money” newspaper, leaving the trainees with everything they need to integrate back into, and contribute to Gambian society.
The training starts with basic soap making, then moves on to more advanced soaps, including neem, moringa, coconut, and even body butter and lip balm making. All the skills are reinforced with our huge array of apps and training guides.
The training also covers behavioral change, this is key to helping the trainees get the confidence they may have lost since entering the prison.
Permaculture Training
We practice permaculture systems all over the farm, now we want to share all the knowledge so we have started to develop an exciting new training program based around permaculture.
MyFarm will offer a very practical approach to how permaculture principles can be deployed in the Gambian context. We intended to prepare trainees with the required knowledge and skills as an introduction to Permaculture for farmers that have special interest to improve their efficiencies and scale their food production using permaculture techniques.
All our training programs use specially designed guides, apps and games, and our permaculture training will be no different…More on this very soon
