I believe this discussion about gun control should be left for later, right now this community needs prayers and support. We all agree this is wrong, and we all have different opinions on the issue but they don't want to hear this right now. They need love, support, and prayers!
I'm praying for all of you!

see this is what i hate as long as there are bullet brains out there nothing will ever get fixed because all they want to focus on is defending the right to bare arms adding more guns like the nra said isnt even a solution its problem i think laws combined with security features and technology have to applied in order. also making it mandatory to get licenses to own a certain weapon. sort of like dmv where we have our different types of licenses to drive certain vehicles.

This is horrible! Hardest thing to do is to explain to a preschooler about what is going on and what to do if this happenes in her school

To everyone saying "MORE GUN CONTROL", why would you put MORE people at risk by disarming citizens and making them victims?

Just think about it, if you take away guns from law-abiding citizens and not arm the schools, the next time a school shooting happens, the students are at the mercy of the gunman! Use your heads people! Guns dont commit crimes, people do.

I'm in bako and alot of my friends have siblings in tafe that go there. My thoughts to all the students and the wounded. I hope they have a quick recovery.

To @Juana R Espinoza: No your school isn't that safe if a snow in happens, like taft school officials already admitted happened to the ONLY ARMED OFFICER this morning when the shooting happened. So no. if theres only one and he's not there, it's not safe. Taft needs better control on the grounds if the chance like this happens again and their one cop with a gun isn't there. If he hadn't been snowed in, everyone might have avoided this, but you can't stop nature so lets just reinforce the safety of the school by upping security, and ENTIRELY gating off the high school and during classes, only way in or out is the school office. That at least stops all the class skippers as well.

With all of these shootings happening it is almost imperative to have a dialogue regarding what to do about it. This has got to stop. I had to have a "refresher" discussion with my 2nd grader about what to do if there is gunshots. With all of the violent content in video games, tv shows, movies etc. (I enjoy a good zombie movie as well); our youth is getting desensitized to the horrors of real world violence. I am not blaming this on games or guns, but a dialogue needs to happen. Whatever side of the gun control issue you are on, at the end of the day we all want our children and communities to be safe and happy. No one wants to get a call or bury their child or neighbor.

@ Megan. We have armed guards for our banks and jewelery stores. We have armed guards at our abortion clinics. We have them at our hospitals and even at the Valley Plaza. Why not have them in our schools as well? Doesn't make sense to me that we would even have to debate this. THANK GOD the kid was armed with bird shot shells in his shotgun and he was able to be talked down by some of the staff. Otherwise you would have had another gun free zone full of executed people until someone with a weapon arrived. Who ever was able to talk that kid down is an absolute HERO.

Have to wonder if Bible and belts were still allowed and if students learned to read, write and math and not about "Tom, Dick and Harvey," if our country would be a much safer place! Prayers for families and victims.

I graduated high school years ago guns are not the problem it's bad parents and irresponsible gun owners I have kids and I own a small arsenal of guns when I leave my house I carry a Glock (I have a concealed weapons permit) My wife and I also choose to homeschool our children Our country is headed in a bad direction I blame that on the administration Raise your children people don't let the world and the corrupt society that we live in raise them for you And if you don't own a gun or 10 I strongly suggest you buy a few it's better To have them and not need them ,than need them and not have them my prayers go out tonight to the victims in this tragic shooting As well as the shooter Good night and God bless'!!!!!
