From the beginning of the copyright reform I have warned that the real victims of Articles 11 and 13 would be small platforms. For people who grew up in the 90s and 2000s like myself, discussion forums belonged to the most important public spaces for discussion online. Even though these forums barely register in the public debate, there remain hundreds of thousands of people who use them. Should these forums not sacrifice a considerable amount of their activities, they will be compelled to use costly and error-prone upload filters. In protest, the Initiative Forums against Upload Filters (https://Foren-gegen-Uploadfilter.eu), made up by 301 Forums, called for a protest day today: the upload-free Sunday. It is impossible to upload images or videos to any of the participating forums today. I explicitly support this campaogn, even though it is only a taste of what is to come, should Articles 11 and 13 pass.
Every Forum represents a cultural niche, which makes up for the diversity of the internet. Help maintain this diversity. Talk to your family and friends about the issue, contact your MEPs via https://pledge2019.eu and come to the protests on 23 March, listed on https://savetheinternet.info/demos.
