Ananda Temple is known as the jewel of Bagan and is a symbol of India-Myanmar shared cultural heritage. In 2010, the Myanmar and Indian governments signed an agreement to restore Ananda in line with international standards and more than US$3 million has been allocated to the project. A team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is working at the site alongside staff from the Ministry of Culture of Myanmar.
