The 2nd Amendment is so much more than taking guns from responsible owners IT IS MORE TO PROTECT us you know the normal citizen against tyrannical government. Why are their more shooting deaths in all the most strick gun law cities? But yet anywhere the gun less strick this does not happen?

He had no record. He had no record of psychological problems. Gun laws are in place. Background checks are done. Most of the time when these things happen the guns have been obtained legally. It is heart wrenching, but evil is a part of our world. You cannot legislate and cause evil to go away.

The students are forbidden from possessing a firearm on campus. In other words they're sitting ducks at the mercy of any madman.

Hey Geraldo why don't you find a way to get guns out of criminals hands instead of bashing the second Amendment. It is my right to own a gun to protect myself. The criminals want guns to commit crime I need my gun to defend my self and my country. Criminals want them to rob and murder innocent people. If every law bidding citizen was allowed to open carry in schools and in public places these criminals would think twice about pulling a gun to commit these crimes because they would not survive to rep their reward because the law bidding citizen gunned them down as soon as they attempted to commit their crime. So quite blaming gun owners for our government allowing these criminals to be on streets in the first place. Anyone who commits such crimes as using gun violence should be put to death to stop their gene pool. You sir are the problem keep your trap shut.

As a Law Enforcement Officer I can say that Geraldo is clueless. With over 300 Million guns in this country, how does he propose getting rid of them? History shows it was the reason Japan didn't invade us. The Emporer was quoted as saying "behind every blade of grass is an American with a gun". It is what has kept us safe.

There are evil people who will do evil things. People can use Molotov cocktails to kill people in theatres or any large gathering of people. It's people that kill people.

This guy was on the Russian's watch list and had mental issues. We need to identify these people and deal with them before the commit these acts of terror.

Geraldo is free to go live in any gun free zone he chooses and let's see how that works out for him.

Sir, you only have half of your story right, the person who shoots and kills someone (without legal justification) is usually mentally ill. As a retired Police Officer I can attest to that factually and experientialy. It is an illogical statement to lump together all law-abiding citizens who legally want, and are legally certified, to defend themselves. People who kill others, by any means, can and should be called only one thing, criminals. Most people who use guns criminally, got their guns from the trunk of some blackmarket, illegal means, and they are the ones you should focus your energies on, not the law-abiding citizens who legally, and usually without incident, are willing to defend themselves.

You are right, though, the police departments around the U.S. have become responsive units. This is because the number of officers hasn't grown at the same rate as the crime has. That is why thy haven't been able to be proactive in their work. That is something that bothered me when I was a sworn officer back in the 1990's. In my city, the number of sworn officers was the same as in the 1970's. And now there were more "specialized" units, which further reduce the number of officers able to proactively conduct law enforcement.

If you want to honestly see how lawful, legally honoring, armed citizens act when armed, read the section called, "The Armed Citizen," in "America's 1st Freedom," a magazine published and written by the NRA. Keep one thing in mind as you read these articles, they tell you the source up front, what newspaper the article was copied from and when it was printed. These are not make-believe stories, not propaganda, these are real-life situations occurring and most of them only require the law-abiding citizens stating they have a gun to deter the criminals from attacking or even attempting to kill or rape them. As a journalist, you have to be aware of the FBI statistics clearly showing a cause and effect in cities where the citizens conceal carry or have a weapon in their home for self-defense. The more guns in a city directly reflects the drop in violent crimes. One has to intentionally ignore these facts to rant like President Obama does. If you put a gun on a desk, yell at it, call it the worst racial slurs you've ever heard, tell it you want to kill it and it's family, then honestly see what that gun does. You know the truth that a gun is nothing more than a tool. In the wrong hands and with evil, sin-filled hearts, people use these tools to commit horrific crimes. It will always take a human being to pull the trigger with an evil intent to commit a crime against someone.

I hope you can see I've tried to lay out my argument with facts and logic, not by attacking you or calling names. I pray you will read my note here and refocus your anger at the real criminal, the person who pulled the trigger.

Also, please remember that if there weren't guns, which aren't the most commonly used murder weapon, bats, knives, hands, hammers, just to name a few, are just as able to kill a person, if in the wrong hands. Truthfully, the motives and ideas to kill people begin in the heart/mind. That is where the battle lies.

If having tougher gun laws is the answer, then why in Chicago, a city with probably some of the toughest gun legislation in the US, was there 19 shootings in the past 3 days and over 300 in September? Yes, unless a good guy with a gun is right there to stop them, it will continue to happen. But if you take the good guy's guns away, then who will be there? The cops can't be everywhere.

We must have the citizens armed and ready for the sickos with guns to quickly ratify the situation, more guns = less violence!! Problem solved..

What needs to be addressed is mental health! Talking about guns is only a smoke screen. People who want guns will always find them. I bet everyone reading this can name the two gun men at Columbine or the crazy who shot up the theater in Colorado, or the nut case that shot up a church in Charleston but can they name one victim?
