Über Divided State of America
This page was inspired by an Art Collection Commissioned by entrepreneur/philanthropist, Nirmal Mulye, and Spray Painted by artist Chor Boogie. The collection highlights the tension between the broken pieces of an ideologically fractured America. The intention of the collection is to offer a non partisan reflection of the political, social, and religious divisions in this country and to attempt to provoke and promote constructive discourse about the most pressing issue in our country today: if America is falling apart, how do we put it back together?
The collection was exhibited in different parts of the country during the 2012 Presidential Election, including at a local Charlotte, North Carolina gallery during the 2012 Democratic Convention. The intention was to also exhibit the collection in Tampa during the Republican Convention that same year but that did not happen due to Hurricane Isaac.
Now, here we are once again, a little over a year from our next Presidential Election in 2016 and we find ourselves confronted with the stark reality that the collection remains more relevant than ever. The United States is still struggling to remain an indivisible nation with liberty and justice for all.
“The Divided States of America” strives to strike to the heart of partisan dissent with the hope of beginning to find solutions through discussion and debate, in a way that only the power of art can."
