Tietoja henkilöstä Diamond-Free Oscars
The refusal of the members of the international diamond regulatory system - the Kimberley Process - to ban all blood diamonds means that, despite all the rhetoric about conflict-free diamonds, the diamond market remains heavily contaminated with diamonds that fund war crimes and crimes against humanity by governments that have no regard for international humanitarian law or human rights laws.

The world’s leading jewellery retailers vie to have the Oscar nominees and leading celebrities photographed wearing their diamonds on the red carpet. Celebrities accept the assurances of these iconic jewelers who claim their diamonds are conflict-free.
The reality is shockingly and disturbingly different.
The claim by the diamond industry that “conflict diamonds” account for less than 1% of the global market is a smoke screen.
“Conflict diamonds” are blood diamond used by rebel movements. However, blood diamonds that fund war crimes by rogue regimes are not banned by the Kimberley Process and they are sold by jewelers as conflict-free diamonds. These blood diamonds account for a high percentage of the global diamond market – 50% in the USA. Diamonds that generate revenue used to fund war crimes and crimes against humanity are not conflict-free, they are blood diamonds.
