About Duplin County Animal Services
We invite you to come to view the animals here: https://www.petango.com/DUPLINCOUNTYANIMALSERVICES We will help you find the best-suited animal for you and your family. We do require home checks prior to adoption. An application can be found here: http://www.duplincountync.com/wp-content/uploads/DCAS-Adoption-Application.pdf. and emailed back to dcanimals@duplincountync.com. We also require two (2) forms of I.D. with your correct physical address, one of which requires a photo i.d. We accept debit/credit or cash. All the stray animals here are required by law to be here 72 hours before adoption.
Once you fill out the adoption application, please allow 48 business hours for processing. Include any vet references you may have. If you do not own your home and land, you must have appropriate paperwork stating animal consent agreements from the owner. If you reside on base, you will need written consent from Command. By filling out this application, you will be consenting to a home check by your local animal control agency.
If your application is approved, you will pick your available pet out. An adoption contract will be signed for every adopted pet. Typically, the animal is old enough for alteration and will be scheduled by Duplin County Animal Control at Our Contracted Vet with the New Owners' knowledge of the appointed time. We will keep the pet until the day of surgery and delivery the pet to the Veterinarian Clinic on the day of surgery. The New Owner will pick the pet up from the Veterinarian Clinic that afternoon as scheduled.
Please remember if your pet has had surgery, the pet cannot get wet for 10 days and must be in a clean, closed, air-controlled environment to heal properly.
We have a 14 kennel shelter with 819 sq. miles and a population of 60,000 people with 7-10 pets per person, with many strays and owner surrenders... There is nowhere to house them nor support their care on the budget we are given, or any budget. We are too small of a shelter to be accepted into a grant program, so we search day in and day out for a place for them, we beg, we plead, and most importantly we try to keep everyone informed so they have an opportunity to make a difference where we cannot, our volunteers and supporters make such huge difference for these furbabies. You may donate below if you would like to help get a larger facility.
