CDRI in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Vocation Training, RGC, organized the Workshop on the Contribution of Vocational Skills Development to Inclusive Industrial Growth and Transformation: An Analysis of Critical Factors in Cambodia”, at Hotel Cambodiana, Phnom Penh, Cambodia Thursday, 13 August 2020, 9:00-18.30
- The project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and SDC under the Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development (r4d Programme)
- It is led by Zurich University of Teacher Education in partnership with 6 countries in two continents (Cambodia, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Laos, South Africa, and Vietnam).
- Phase 1 was from Sep 2017-Aug 2020, and the second phase will be from Sep 2020-Aug 2023.
- The main objective is to identify the factors that help or hinder the vocational skill development programme in contributing to inclusive industrial growth and transformation.
- This study focuses on three main sectors: garment, electrical and electronic (E&E) and food processing.
It is well-aligned with relevant Government policies including its strategic objective for promoting higher quality workforce development, the Cambodia Industrial Development Policy (IDP 2015-2025), and TVET Policy 2017-2025. The latter aims to “improve the livelihood and dignity of people and especially to enhance Cambodia’s workforce with knowledge, competence, skills, working attitude, professional ethics, high productivity, and competitiveness for lifelong employability”.
នៅថ្ងៃសុក្រ ទី១១ ធ្នូ ២០២០៖ មជ្ឈមណ្ឌលស្រាវជ្រាវសេដ្ឋកិច្ច និងពាណិជ្ជកម្មដើម្បីអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ (CDET) នៃវិទ្យាស្ថានCDRI បានដំណើរការវគ្គទី១ នៃសិក្ខាសាលាមួយខ្សែតាមអនឡាញ។ វគ្គនេះ ជាព្រឹត្តិការណ៍ចាប់ផ្តើមគម្រោងស្រាវជ្រាវមួយស្តីពី “ផលប៉ះពាល់នៃជម្ងឺកូវីដ ១៩ លើការអភិវឌ្ឍដោយបរិយាប័ន្ន និងអភិបាលកិច្ចនៅក្នុងបណ្តាប្រទេសមហាអនុតំបន់មេគង្គ (កម្ពុជា ឡាវ មីយ៉ាន់មា និង វៀតណាម)”។ គម្រោងផលប៉ះពាល់នៃជម្ងឺកូវីដ១៩ មានរយៈពេល ៣ឆ្នាំនេះ ទទួលបានការឧបត្ថម្ភគាំទ្រដោយមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលស្រាវជ្រាវដើម្បីការអភិវឌ្ឍអន្តរជាតិ (IDRC) ប្រទេសកាណាដា។ ដៃគូស្រាវជ្រាវក្នុងគម្រោងនេះមាន៖ មហាវិទ្យាល័យគ្រប់គ្រងសេដ្ឋកិច្ចនិងពាណិជ្ជកម្មនៃសាកលវិទ្យាល័យជាតិ ឡាវ មជ្ឈមណ្ឌលសម្រាប់ការអភិវឌ្ឍសេដ្ឋកិច្ច និងសង្គមកិច្ច មីយ៉ាន់មា និងមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលសម្រាប់ការវិភាគ និងព្យាករណ៍ បណ្ឌិតសភាវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រសង្គមនៃប្រទេសវៀតណាម។ សុន្ទរកថាបើកសិក្ខាសាលាអនឡាញនេះ ត្រូវបានផ្តល់ដោយបណ្ឌិត ប៉ិច សុខេម នាយកប្រតិបត្តិវិទ្យាស្ថានCDRIនិងបណ្ឌិត Anindya Chatterjee នាយកប្រចាំតំបន់នៃIDRCអាស៊ី។ បណ្ឌិតJayant Menon និងបណ្ឌិត Kyoko Kusakabe បានធ្វើបទបង្ហាញអំពីការស្តារសេដ្ឋកិច្ចឡើងវិញ និងផលប៉ះពាល់លើយេនឌ័រដោយជម្ងឺកូវីដ១៩។ វាគ្មិនដែលបានចូលរួមពិភាក្សារួមមាន លោក រ័ត្ន វឌ្ឍនា បណ្ឌិត Phouphet Kyophilavong បណ្ឌិត Zaw Oo និងបណ្ឌិត Nguyen Thang ហើយលោកស្រី Gillian Dowie គឺជាអ្នកសម្របសម្រួលមកពី IDRC។
Friday, 11 December, 2020: CDRI’s Centre for Development Economics and Trade hosted virtually her 1st session of the webinar series. The session was a launch event of the research project on “Impacts of COVID-19 on Inclusive Development and Governance: Rapid and Post-Pandemic Assessment in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam”. This three-year project is supported by the International Development Research Centre, Canada. Faculty of Economics and Business Management, National University of Laos, Centre for Economic and Social Development, Myanmar and Centre for Analysis and Forecasting, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam are research partners. The opening remarks were provided by Dr Pech Sokhem, CDRI Executive Director and Dr Anindya Chatterjee, Regional Director of IDRC Asia. Dr Jayant Menon and Dr Kyoko Kusakabe presented on the Post Pandemic Economic Recovery and Reflection on the Impacts of COVID-19 from Gender Lens. The panelists were Mr Roth Vathana, Dr Phouphet Kyophilavong, Dr Zaw Oo and Dr Nguyen Thang. The panel discussion was moderated by Ms Gillian Dowie, IDRC.

With financial support from the International Development Research Centre, Canada, a consortium of research institutes in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam has been established to provide rapid and recovery assessment of the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic.
