Bensalem Police - will be moving ahead with the next phase of DNA testing. Members of the Bensalem Police Department along with our elected officials will be unveiling the IntegenX RapidHIT instrument on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bensalem Police headquarters. The RapidHIT system generates lab-quality forensic DNA profiles in less than 90 minutes using well-established forensic DNA methods.

Bensalem Police will be the first police department in the country to utilize this instrument in conjunction with its well-established local DNA database through Bode Cellmark Forenzics. This type of DNA analysis will lead to suspects being identified through forensic testing in real time, which will result in criminals being removed from the street today to prevent tomorrow's victim.

Bensalem Police created their own local DNA database in 2010 which led to the current countywide DNA program in Bucks County. Currently there are 20,000 DNA samples in the database which have assisted in approximately 550 criminal investigations.
