this is my first bearded dragon and first animal that sheds its skin. I was just wondering if it is natural for them to eat their skin after it falls off. sorry this is not meant to be gross. I am just wondering

Yeh not unusual at all. Remove it is you see it, but if he eats it, no big deal at all.

Possible Yasmin Southwood, although beardies stools are just as much evidence so not convinced it is defense but could well be

Just a funny little story to add about shedding. I often let my female beardies and my iguana have free roam of the house together. When my iguana is shedding he uses the beardies as scratching posts. He rubs his head on their backs to help remove his shed. They don't mind as they have all been together since babies. He has his own large enclosure but he loves socialising with them 😀

I'm thinking it's a bit of a defense mechanism... predators can't detect them if they don't leave a trail

They eat it from time to time. My little girl used to when she was young, she no longer does it anymore.

You should never pull skin off it can be painful and damage skin, and normal for them to eat, good actually they say.

That's not gross, gross is my dogs eating it if they get the chance!
I have 8 beardies in 4 separate vivariums, I don't often see any evidence of left over shed, guess it all gets eaten 😀
