Roland Rajah from The Lowy Institute will add a unique Australian perspective to the board, as the Lead Economist and Director at Lowy’s International Economics Program, and we wish him all the best.
CDRI is one of our Ponlok Chomnes partners, a program through which Australia and The Asia Foundation support think tanks in Cambodia to produce research for use in policy development and increase public-policy dialogue.

On 03 September 2020, Mr Sim Sokcheng, CDRI Staff Representative and Director of Centre for Policy Research on Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Sen Sina, Secretary of CDRI Board of Directors (BOD), and Dr Pech Sokhem, Executive Director, welcomed the visit by Mr Zhang Bao, new CDRI BoD member, Chief Correspondent of the Cambodia Bureau, Economic Daily. He has also several years of experience in research for development in China and internationally. In August 2020, the Chair of CDRI BoD, H.E. Dr Mey Kalyan, welcomes two new international members to the Board including Mr Zhang. Another new member is Mr Roland Rajah, Lead Economist, and Director of International Economics Program, Lowy Institute, a think tank in Australia. His previous experience was with Asian Development Bank, and with DFAT (managing an economic reform advisory program) and AusAID.

Ngorn Chansovy is operations manager and a researcher at the CPS - Centre for Policy Studies មជ្ឈមណ្ឌលសិក្សាគោលនយោបាយ for a range of different projects related to agriculture, land governance and the digital economy.
She studied at The Australian National University, achieving a Master’s degree in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development.
“I believe strong leadership and critical knowledge in research will contribute to make changes in Cambodia’s development endeavour,” Ms Ngorn said.

We are pleased to welcome a new member to the embassy family, Daravuth Rath Sithy who has joined the team in the role of Program Officer (Development Cooperation).
Daravuth has just returned home to Cambodia from the United Kingdom where he had completed his Master of Arts in Public Policy at the University of Warwick. Previously, he was a full-time Lecturer of International Affairs at the Department of International Studies (DIS) at the RUPP - Royal University of Phnom Penh for three years. There, he also conducted independent research with institutes such as the Pacific Forum International and Future Forum.
“I envision Cambodia not only as an advanced economy, where poverty and equality are less pervasive, but also as a smart nation, progressing on the bedrocks of sound, efficient, innovative, and inclusive public services”, said Daravuth.
“This aspiration is what compelled me to join the Australian Embassy, where I believe I can contribute to the Australian and Cambodian Governments’ efforts in enhancing the quality of public services to better accommodate the needs of the Cambodian people, particularly those coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.”

ដោយមានការគាំទ្រពី Australia Awards Cambodia អ្នកនាង ប៉ោ ណេង បានបញ្ចប់ការសិក្សាពីសាកលវិទ្យាល័យ Melbourne The University of Melbourne ដោយទទួលបាន សញ្ញាប័ត្រអនុបណ្ឌិតផ្នែកវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រកសិកម្ម កាលពីឆ្នាំ ២០១៣។ ចាប់តាំងពីបានចូលធ្វើការនៅ កម្មវិធីសង្វាក់តម្លៃកសិកម្មកម្ពុជា - អូស្រ្តាលី (កាវ៉ាក់) នៅឆ្នាំ ២០១៤ មក ណេងបានដឹកនាំគម្រោងស្រាវជ្រាវនានា លើសក្តានុពលដំណាំថ្មីៗ និងទីផ្សារ ដើម្បីលើកកម្ពស់ ការប្រកួតប្រជែងនៃវិស័យកសិកម្ម នៅកម្ពុជា។

With support from Australia Awards, Por Neng graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences in 2013. Since joining Australia’s Cambodia-Australia Agricultural Value Chain (#CAVAC) program in 2014, Neng has led research projects on potential new crops and markets to improve the competitiveness of Cambodia’s agriculture sector.
‘I feel blessed to be able to contribute back to society and to apply what I have learned from my studies and work experience to promote food security and sustainable rural livelihoods’, said Neng.
