BANNING EPS FOAM IN MARYLAND: The House just voted to make Maryland the first state to ban foam food containers by passing Hb109! If we continue at the rate of plastic production and usage that we are at today, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans. Maryland may be a small state, but we have the chance with this legislation to LEAD the country on eliminating this horrible form of single use plastic from our state. We have a duty to future generations to clean up the mess that has been made - this bill is an important step!

Proud to be working with Cheryl C. Kagan & Trash Free Maryland Maryland LCV Sierra Club Maryland Chapter to create a cleaner state & planet. #MDGA19 And thanks to Julie Lawson who started me on this path and to ALL the amazing advocates who have been working on this for THREE years!

Senate President Emeritus Mike Miller has announced he is resigning his office for health reasons. A huge thank you to him for his many, many years of dedicated service and love of the Senate. Even those who disagreed with his politics know he was dedicated at his core to being a public servant and working for the people of his district and the state.

No Senate President served longer, and I think we'd all be hard pressed to find a Senate President who would write a more heartfelt and inspiring resignation letter.

Some great zooming yesterday! Thanks to the new student government at Commodore John Rogers for speaking with us and for stepping up to serve their fellow students. I also participated in great discussions with 50+ district 46 residents who volunteer and work with CASA (Casa De Maryland) . I am so grateful for all the work and advocacy that CASA does on behalf of so many Maryland residents who have been particularly hard hit by Covid and the economic downturn this year. And ended the night with one of my favorite organizations in Central Maryland - Pearlstone Center! Great discussions about environmental justice and sustainability.

Today is the shortest day of a long year. Too many people have lost loved ones this year... from COVID or another cause. The holiday season can be even more difficult for them. So, thinking of all the people I know today who are no longer here and all my friends and constituents and family members who have lost loved ones... The greatest gift we can give to each other is our kindness and our love. Love to all. #Grateful
