KDF TROOPS DONATE DESKS, FOOD ITEMS AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES IN BURAHACHE TOWN
KDF's 1 Mechanized Infantry Battalion (1MIB) serving under AMISOM donated foodstuffs, medical supplies to Elwak District Hospital and also 36 desks to students of Harweyn Primary School in Elwak-Somalia district.
While addressing the local administration, elders and teachers, Lt Col Katera, CO 1 MIB thanked them for the continued support they have given to AMISOM troops. He also reiterated the role played by Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in ensuring that it creates conducive environment for peace.
Harweyn Primary School Head teacher Mr. Hassan Ali appreciated the KDF soldiers for providing desks to the school saying that continued enrolment of students had overstretched their infrastructure and the assistance came at the right time when most of the students were sitting on mats during classes. “We shall forever be thankful for what you have demonstrated today especially for the children,” said Ali.
Elwak Distric Commissioner Mr. Ibrahim Guleid said Harweyn is a community-funded school that offers free education to orphans and needy students within the local population.
